Coco Paradise
A River-Based Eco Resort Town
Da Nang–Hoi An, Vietnam · 2014
Role: Design Director — 3TI Progetti Asia
Coco Paradise is conceived as a new urban and resort destination inspired by the natural landscapes of Vietnam — rivers, agricultural fields and mountains.
The Coco River forms the primary structure of the master plan, connecting the development with Da Nang and Hoi An while establishing water as both a landscape element and a sustainable mobility corridor.
The new town develops around the river and a central marina, bringing together residential neighbourhoods, hotels, commercial areas, traditional villages, an eco-farm and biotechnology facilities within an integrated landscape system. Water sports, recreation and river-based activities reinforce the relationship between everyday life and the natural environment.
A museum dedicated to Vietnam's history of water transportation forms one of the project's principal cultural destinations, creating a landscaped connection between the central marina and the beachfront. A private airport and seaplane facilities further extend the project's regional accessibility.
At the core of the environmental strategy is the concept of the “Five-Star Eco Resort” — five principles used to structure the relationship between development and sustainability:
Eco-bio agriculture · Eco-bio architecture · Sustainable transportation · Renewable energy · Ecological water treatment
Together, these principles establish a master plan in which urban development, tourism, agriculture, mobility and water are conceived as parts of a single ecological system.
