Mortirolo Eco Bike Park

Strategic Master Plan for Sustainable Tourism and Landscape Regeneration

The Mortirolo Eco Bike Park is a territorial master plan that reimagines one of the Italian Alps' most iconic cycling landscapes as a year-round destination for outdoor recreation, ecological tourism and local development.

Rather than proposing isolated interventions, the project establishes an integrated network of cycling routes, hiking trails, ecological corridors, visitor facilities and cultural destinations, connecting the municipalities of Mazzo di Valtellina, Tovo di Sant'Agata, Lovero and Vervio into a single landscape experience.

The strategy combines sustainable mobility, environmental restoration and heritage enhancement through a series of coordinated interventions, including new arrival hubs, eco-lodges, panoramic viewpoints, mountain refuges, bike training facilities and the adaptive reuse of historical assets such as Bellaguarda Castle.

Designed as a long-term territorial vision, the master plan demonstrates how landscape, tourism, ecology and local identity can operate as a unified system, creating new economic opportunities while preserving the environmental and cultural character of the Mortirolo region.
