The gateway to Ha Long Bay
A 93-hectare island destination combining culture, tourism, landscape and waterfront living
Ha Long Bay, Vietnam · 2014
Role: Design Director — 3TI Progetti Asia
Set on a private island overlooking Ha Long Bay, the project occupies a strategic 93-hectare site at the threshold of one of Vietnam’s most iconic landscapes. Its location and marina establish the island as a gateway for visitors exploring the bay.
The master plan transforms this gateway condition into a mixed cultural and tourism destination. At its heart, a cultural village draws inspiration from traditional Vietnamese architecture and provides a setting for events, performances and water shows. A five-star hotel and resort, water park, museum and botanical garden expand the island into a year-round visitor destination.
Residential villas and low-rise apartments are carefully integrated into the island’s gentle topography, using the natural elevation to maximise views while maintaining a predominantly low-rise landscape. The result is conceived as a sequence of experiences between culture, recreation, landscape and water, with the marina connecting the island directly to Ha Long Bay.
